Lately I have been shooting some really fun portraits. I first shot a friend as James Dean and recently shot my friend Ezra as Elvis. I like the challenge of creating images that could artistically represent these icons. My next project is Molly Ringwald. Wish me luck!

I had a chance of a lifetime earlier this month. The day of the show I was granted a media pass thru ELEVEN Magazine to photograph Gotye and Kimbra at The Crystal Ballroom. I have been obsessing over his latest album and especially the song ” Somebody that I used to know.” The same week I photographed this amazing duo they also premiered on Saturday Night Live and Glee. His song ” Somebody that I used to know,” has captured the hearts of millions all over the world. It was a great show and I will never forget it. Gotye you ROCK!!!

I was recently hired to photograph the 4 programs the International Air and Hospitality Academy offers to students. The academy offers culinary training, wind turbine technician training, hospitality, and international air. After photographing each program the school decided to have me install a permanent collection of photos from each program. This is my first commercial installation. A special thanks to Dan Stutzman for helping me with the installation process. The academy was so pleased with the final product that when the new culinary school is built they want me to install even more photos. Last week I was visiting The Candy Bus on Hawthorne street in SE Portland. I heard bagpipes and before I knew it Darth Vader was cycling down the street and playing the Star Wars theme song on his bagpipes, in a kilt. I grabbed my camera and took a few shots of him. I posted the picture on my facebook page and it quickly got shared all over facebook. Portlandia even shared it and within hours there was 5,000 likes on the image. Over 1,000 people shared it and it even ended up on a few other sites. Unfortunately for me there was no photo credit on the photo. Several of my friends shared the image and made sure to tag me. Either way it was so cool to see the hundreds of comments and I’m pretty sure everyone in Portland has seen this image now. Keep Portland Weird!!!

Last monday and tuesday I volunteered for The Children’s Cancer Association. Every year right before Valentine’s Day they have their annual live marathon to collect money for their organization. The CCA does several things for families that are suffering with a child with cancer. Last year I photographed the marathon and they asked me to come back again this year and photograph the event. This year Fox 12 Oregon broadcasted live from the event and 105.1 The Buzz also ran live for 28 hours. When I left on the 2nd day they had raised $435,000.00. I had so much fun capturing the event and I am so proud to be involved in such an amazing non profit here in Portland. Keep up the good work CCA!!!

My dear friend Christine McKernan has started a mobile candy bus! She has named the bus “The Chalk-Let Candy Bus,” and she asked me to shoot her candy inventory for her website. So, I ran down to the Candy Bus while they were hosting a kid’s birthday party and I shot over 50 different kinds of amazing candy. I had so much fun shooting all the different colors and textures. You can find the Candy Bus located on 33rd and Hawthorne on fri, sat, and sun. The Candy Bus is an amazing mobile candy store and it brings you right back to when you were a kid. This month I have been tracking the events of Occupy Portland. I started to get a lot of positive feedback from the photos I had taken of the movement and decided to exhibit them this week at Be-Mused Boutique. (http://www.bemusedpdx.com/ ) Be-Mused is unveiling their new gallery space and celebrating their 1 year anniversary. The owners asked me to be the first artist to occupy the space and I feel very honored for this opportunity. So, last night I got the prints back and framed 11 different pieces. I also got a photo printed on canvas at www.easycanvasprints.com. I really like this site. They were very professional, had several options, and my canvas was quickly produced and mailed to my front door. They also have great prices and I will use them again in the future!

October has been a very busy month for me. This month I got my first magazine cover for ELEVEN Magazine. I had the honor of meeting LoveFoxx of CSS and lucky for me it made the cover. I am hoping this cover is just the beginning of covers I will do for ELEVEN. We are having a 11.11.11 party at Firkin Tavern this friday. I will be celebrating my first cover and having drinks with the 11 crew. I also have 5 b/w photos up on the wall for sale!!

I have been shooting for ELEVEN Magazine now for a few months and this month I was chosen to shoot the band CAKE. They performed at Edgefield in September and I had a blast seeing them in concert. I will be honest i havent listened to a lot of CAKE music but after seeing them live I think that will change. A special thanks to ELEVEN Mag for all the opportunities I have been given.
